The Consortium began with two university members, North Carolina State University (NCSU) and North Carolina A & T State University (NCA&T). The Consortium added four additional members in 1992: Duke University, North Carolina Central University (NCCU), the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC-C) and Winston-Salem State University (WSSU); the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) was added in 1995; and in addition, the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNC-P) was added in 1998. A campus director who also serves on the Consortium Executive Board represents each of these eight universities. NCSU is the base University for interaction with NASA.
