This program is aimed at increasing the quality and quantity of students successfully completing technology, engineering, mathematics, and science (TEMS) baccalaureate degree programs, and increasing the number of students interested in, academically qualified for and matriculated into programs of graduate study. LSAMP supports sustained and comprehensive approaches that facilitate achievement of the long-term goal of increasing the number of students who earn doctorates in TEMS fields, particularly those from populations underrepresented in TEMS fields. The program goals are accomplished through the formation of alliances.

TheWSSU program works closely with the departments of Computer Science, Life Science, Chemistry and Mathematics to support and enhance departmental student development efforts.

Students participate at one of two levels:
Level I - Financial support and research involvement
(sophomore - seniors with 3.0 GPA)
Level II - Academic support and tutorial involvement
(freshmen - seniors with less than 3.0 GPA)
Students must exhibit an interest in graduate study and participate in WSSU, North Carolina and National enrichment Activities sponsored by this program.
