Program Goal

• The primary goal of the WSSU LSAMP, is to increase the number of minority students earning baccalaureate degrees each year in fields of technology & science and prepare them for entry into graduate programs.

Program Objectives

• Aggressively recruit well-qualified college students that are typically underrepresented in the science and technology fields, many of them minorities, into baccalaureate degree programs in science, math, engineering and technology at WSSU
• Provide financial support to remove barriers to full-time study in the form of stipends for work in laboratories, tutoring, and summer internships
• Create a community of scholars in which academic excellence is encouraged and expected, and where students will receive support from other students
• Provide academic  and research mentors
• Implement a proven academic enrichment program
• Engage WSSU LSAMP Scholars in activities to encourage graduate study
