GUIDELINES
  • The UNIVERSITY FINANCIAL AID/ SCHOLARSHIP AWARD FORM (FASCHOL-2/00) is used to process all NC-LSAMP Stipend Awards
  • Completed forms are sent to the NC-LSAMP Coordinator (Dr. Elva Jones, CS 4203) for approval.
  • NC-LSAMP participants must be full-time students enrolled in a B.S. degree TEMS program.
  • LEVEL I participants receive financial assistance in addition to participating in NC-LSAMP Program Activities. Completion of the NC-LSAMP Application/Participation Agreement Pledge is MANDATORY for all students receiving stipend funds.
  • LEVEL II participants, who upon improving to meet LEVEL I criteria, may be considered for stipend funding. Level II students participate in all NC-LSAMP Program Activities. Level II students are given priority when new Level I students are selected.
  • The student must complete Part I and Part II of the Application.
  • The TEMS (Life Science, Physical Science, Computer Science, Mathematics) Faculty Mentor must complete Part III of the Application.
  • A completed Application for each student must be submitted to the WSSU NC-LSAMP coordinator before August 25.
  • Failure to meet criteria listed below within one year of receiving an award or scholarship disqualifies a student from any future NC-LSAMP awards.

FINANCIAL AWARD CRITERIA
Students receiving an NC-LSAMP Financial Awards must meet the criteria below.

  1. United States Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  2. Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  3. Participate in departmental mentoring program.
  4. Register and attend the annual NC-LSAMP Undergraduate Research Conference.
  5. Register and attend at least two WSSU NC-LSAMP activities during the year (i.e. Trips, conferences, speakers, etc.).
  6. Attend a minimum of three TEMS academic/research development activities each semester (i.e. department seminars, speakers, workshops, etc.).
  7. Present at least one faculty-mentored research project (poster or oral) at a local, state, or national research conference before graduation.
  8. Transfer Students Only - Meet the criteria established by the university for transfer students.
